 The position requires strong speaking and writing skills in English and Chinese, a grasp of the basics of language analysis and second language instruction. The successful applicant will be able to give evidence of the capacity to work independently, to think critically and communicate clearly with senior professors, language teachers, information engineers and deal with university bureaucracy in administrative aspects of the project. The project focuses on the development and extension of digital tools for English vocabulary learning in context. The applicant will contribute to the English language and pedagogical aspects and communicate effectively with information engineers in enhancing the design of the digital tools.

 

Requirements:

MA in English or applied linguistics or related field

Second language teaching experience (teaching of adult learners a plus)

Experience with corpus analysis and language materials or curriculum design

Good presentation skill for demoing tools, systems or papers

Basic computer skills, especially MS Word and PowerPoint

Capability to use image processing software (e.g. Photoshop) and workflow diagram design software (e.g. MS Visio) a plus

 

Payments and Benefits:

The applicant will be paid in accord with the standards of the National Science Council (approximately $35,000 per month with annual bonus).

The applicant’s working hours will be flexible.

 

This is a three-year project with potential for subsequent projects.
